Hip-hop and R&B royalty are taking over the city during Women’s History Month
Coming down off the high of André 3000’s flute-filled February, you might hesitate to think that it’s even possible for March’s concert calendar to live up to last month’s hype. However, with one look at the lineup of shows over the coming weeks, you’ll quickly have a change of heart. Sensational rising acts and music industry legends are set to collide this month, which means there will be plenty of opportunities to tap in with rappers like Atlanta’s own BabyDrill or stalwart artists like Nicki Minaj and Monica. Here are eight shows going down in March that you do not want to miss.

Mahalia, Buckhead Theatre — Since her breakthrough in 2019 with her debut album Love and Compromise and its Ella Mai-assisted single “What You Did,” Mahalia has been leaving her mark on R&B from across the pond. This month, the talented British singer-songwriter will be coming to the A in support of her second studio album, IRL. Make sure you check her out when the In Real Life Tour hits the Buckhead Theatre March 11.

BabyDrill, Center Stage — If you’re a fan of Atlanta hip-hop, chances are you have already been introduced to 22-year-old rapper BabyDrill. The 21 Savage and Young Nudy-affiliated artist collaborated with the 4L and PDE rappers on last summer’s “Slight Dub,” and has also appeared on tracks alongside other local rap heavyweights, from Latto to Quavo. When he hits Center Stage later this month, however, all eyes will be on him. A little over a month has passed since BabyDrill dropped his latest record in February, ScoreGod — and March 15 fans will be among the first to hear the sensational young act’s new music live. TiaCorine, A.R. The Mermaid, Terminal West — Spend Saint Patrick’s Day with none other than North Carolina rapper TiaCorine. The 2023 XXL Freshman first rose to prominence with the release of cult classic tracks like 2018’s “Lotto” and 2022’s “FreakyT,” the latter of which garnered so much viral notoriety that Atlanta’s own Latto hopped on the remix. These days, TiaCorine is promoting Almost There — her punchy new 8-track project featuring guest contributions from artists such as Luh Tyler, Key Glock, and ZelooperZ — with a 16-date North American tour. Her Almost There Tour is set to land at Terminal West on the luckiest day of the month, and Memphis-based rapper A.R. The Mermaid will provide opening support.

Nicki Minaj, Monica, State Farm — This is not a drill — Nicki Minaj is back on tour! On her 41st birthday last December, the veteran artist and reigning queen of rap unveiled her long-awaited fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2, and now, only a few short months later, she embarks on a 57-date world tour in support of the chart-topping record. The Pink Friday 2 World Tour marks Nicki’s first time on the road since her short European run in 2019 with Juice Wrld, and what’s more astonishing is that it is also set to be her first North American tour in eight years. Needless to say, get your tickets while you still can.

Nicki Minaj, Monica, State Farm — Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour is the premiere live music event of March, and that is partially because of the tour’s special guest — Atlanta’s own Monica. The beloved Miss Thang artist recently collaborated with Nicki Minaj on the Pink Friday 2 (Gag City Deluxe) standout track “Love Me Enough;” now she’ll be adding some vintage R&B flavor to Nicki’s first American tour in nearly a decade. Come see the Atlanta music legend perform live for her homecoming stint of the Pink Friday 2 World Tour.

Bas, Buckhead Theatre — Looking ahead to the first handful of days in April, one of the most anticipated shows of next month belongs to Bas. Fresh off the release of his fourth studio album We Only Talk About Real Shit When We’re Fucked Up, the Dreamville artist is back on the road in support of his latest release. Bas’s stop in Atlanta will also serve as one of the final dates of his We Only Talk About Real Sh*t When We’re F*cked Up Tour before he heads up to North Carolina with his label mates for the Dreamville Fest.
