MINT Gallery has their first full-time staff member. Today the gallery announced the promotion of Atlanta-based artist Candice Greathouse to the position of creative director. Greathouse currently works as MINT’s interim operations manager.

Greathouse will take over the role on Jan. 1, 2015. The first big curatorial project Greathouse will lead is Middle, a group exhibition at Gallery 72. In partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, the show will run from Nov. 21 to Jan. 16, 2015.

In a release, MINT Executive Director Erica Jamison called Greathouse an already “thoughtful, insightful, and creative addition” to the gallery. “We look forward to expanding our programming and our audiences with her direction,” Jamison said.

MINT’s program expansion is supported by the OCA, as well as funding from the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.

A 2012 Georgia State University MFA graduate, Greathouse has shown her photography and video work across the country, including Aqua Art Miami. The former head of GSU’s Art Student Union, also has an MA in contemporary art history.

“I feel incredibly proud and excited to become the new Creative Director at MINT at such a pivotal movement in their evolution,” Greathouse said in a statement. “MINT has had incredible growth and leadership in the last few years, and I feel we offer a unique voice in Atlanta’s developing art community. I look forward to refining our curatorial vision while maintaining our accessibility to emerging artists and arts lovers in Atlanta and beyond.”
