ACTIVE SHOOTERS: Misanthropic Aggression is Tyler Peacock (from left), Jake Benedict, and Chris Hammer.

Misanthropic Aggression is a new group that finds former Spewtilator and Repulsory drummer Jake Benedict taking on bass and vocal duties. Benedict teams up with guitarist Chris Hammer and drummer Tyler Peacock to embark on a gnarly journey into the darkened grey areas between grind-punk and black metal. “I want the energy of Municipal Waste but the sound of Celtic Frost with Nocturno from Darkthrone singing,” Benedict says.

The group’s two-song demo, recorded in Hammer’s basement in Smyrna, dubbed Hammer Studios, was released in October, when the group was just a two-piece, with Benedict on bass, drums, and vocals, and Hammer knocking out guitar while engineering the sessions. Since then, Peacock has filled out the lineup with a full-bodied percussive rattle. Now, M.A. is making its debut performance at the Drunken Unicorn on Thurs., May 10, with Luicidal (featuring original Suicidal Tendencies members performing songs from the first three S.T. albums — Suicidal Tendencies, Join the Army, and How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can’t Even Smile Today).

The (A.S.S.) Demo, as it has come to be known, is being pressed up as a red cassette tape, limited to 25 copies, for people who who pre-order tickets from the group for the May 10 show, and it won’t be pressed again.
