Quick Bites: Antico gets a new pizza lab, the Pinewood goes late-night, Cousins Maine Lobster plans Lenox Square location and more

DELIZIOSO: Giovanni di Palma will open Antico Laboratorio this fall.

Attention pizza lovers! Antico Pizza owner Giovanni di Palma is opening Antico Laboratorio this fall, with a glass enclosed dough room where Italian dough will be crafted by hand. The space scheduled to open in October next to Gio’s on 1099 Hemphill Ave., is a former photography space. Tomorrow’s News Today reports that Antico is considering adding delivery for the first time as well.

Later in the fall, Lenox Square will welcome a 1,150-square-foot brick-and-mortar location of Cousins Maine Lobster. Inspired by the popular food truck, this will be the franchise’s third sit-down location. The restaurant will be located across from Bantam + Biddy and will serve up Cousins’ signature Maine lobster rolls along with a number of specialty items available only at brick-and-mortar locations.

Food critic Kevin Alexander of Thrillist spent a year noshing on burgers all over America (330 burgers in total) to create a list of the Top 100 Burgers in America. Four from Atlanta are honored, including Fred’s Meat and Bread’s burger stack (which has a delicious sister version at the General Muir), One Eared Stag’s meatstick, Ann’s Snack Bar’s ghetto burger and Bocado’s burger stack.

Sept. 1 is almost here. With this come new beer law SB85 allowing direct sales to customers. No more mandatory tours, and plenty of exciting new options and celebrations at breweries all over Georgia. Stay tuned for details.

Night owls, assemble! Decatur’s The Pinewood has a new late night menu available Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with bar snacks and drink specials until 1 a.m. We can attest that their barbecue pork boiled peanuts go quite well with a Fever to the Form bourbon cocktail.

Genji Sushi in NYC was ranked as one of the 10 Great Japanese Restaurants in USA Today. Now Atlanta has a one inside the new Whole Foods Market in Chamblee (5001 Peachtree Blvd.). The market hangout features Japanese small plates like poke bowls, ramen, sushi tacos, cones of crispy chicken karaage and bubble tea. Genji has been providing sushi to Whole Foods for 20 years.

Coinciding with harvest season, East Cobb’s Seed Kitchen and Bar now has a three-course rotating Chef’s Harvest Menu packed full of seasonal ingredients and flavors. Chef Doug Turbush’s menu is available Mon-Thurs from 3-10 p.m. with a choice from each category for $35. Wine pairings are an extra $15.

More wing news from your CL crew: Atkins Park Restaurant and Bar in Virginia Highland now offers half-priced wings during Atlanta Falcons preseason games. Dates for those games (or just the wings) are Aug. 26 and Aug. 31. Choose from barbecue wings smoked on the Big Green Egg or the crispy version, slow fried in duck fat.

Steak Shapiro’s five-year-old show Atlanta Eats will soon air seven days a week. Beginning Sept. 11, you can salivate with Atlanta food content every day of the week on Peachtree TV with rotating hosts including Mara Davis. In February, the show is slated to move to CBS channel 46 at 9 a.m.

This week is restaurant week, delivery-style. Beginning Monday, DoorDash customers can order from their “favorite select restaurants” and choose from dozens of DoorDash-only specials for $5 along with free delivery with the code “TasteAtl.” All you need is the app.

For foodies who still appreciate snail mail, the U.S. Postal Service has a new set of stamps (those are the sticky things that help get paper to its destination) celebrating Latin American culinary traditions. Delicioso stamps feature ceviche, empanadas, flan, tamales, and chile rellenos.

We have your Wednesday evening wine date figured out. Winemaker Wednesdays are now a thing at Ponce City Market’s City Winery where you can meet head winemaker Travis Green from 5-7 p.m. at the Barrel Room restaurant. Tastings are complimentary and questions are encouraged from both wine novices and experts. Green will take visitors step by step through the winemaking process and talk about varietals.
