Mouthful - Amazing Desserts

Aria It’s doubtful that Aria’s customers will ever let pastry chef Kathryn King take the warm chocolate cheesecake off the menu. First-timers’ eyes go right to it, and regulars never protest: Someone at the table must order it. For the seasonally inclined, though, it’s King’s fruit desserts that can make the rest of the delectable meal a mere warm-up. 490 E. Paces Ferry Road. 404-233-7673. www.aria-atl.com.

Greenwood’s on Green Street It’s all about pie at Greeny’s. Some of us are partial to the classic apple, redolent with cinnamon and sigh-inducing with a scoop of the restaurant’s homemade ice cream; others prefer the sweet yet sour cherry. Ooh, then there’s the slightly boozy cream pies - the chocolate cream laced with Drambuie, and the coconut cream spiked with rum. Guess you’ll have to try them all to find your favorite. 1087 Green St., Roswell. 770-992-5383.

Rathbun’s Kirk Parks, Kevin Rathbun’s partner in sublime, crafts a daily changing list of mini-desserts so choosing can be a pleasure, not torture. As winter lingers, his creations remain creamy and comforting: toasted cardamom rice pudding, gooey toffee cake, and his signature, banana peanut butter cream pie. P.S. Parks is masterly with ice cream and sorbet. 112 Krog St., Suite R. 404-524-8280. www.rathbunsrestaurant.com.

Woodfire GrillValrhona chocolate-hazelnut cake with chocolate malt and banana ice cream. Caramel-soaked dates with greek yogurt mousse and buttermilk cake. Fennel panna cotta with blood orange caramel sauce. Just reading Jonathan St. Hilaire’s intelligently composed offerings makes you drool. And they taste even better. Not a sweets person? Woodfire assembles a beautiful plate of carefully chosen artisan cheeses. 1782 Cheshire Bridge Road. 404-347-9055. www.woodfiregrill.com.
