The second installment of J-Live’s HOT vs. DOPE monthly residency returns to shake up the party with an eclectic mix of commercial and underground funk, soul, reggae, and hip-hop — it’s a learning experience, placing some responsibility in the DJs hands. But first and foremost, J will team up with Señor Kaos and Daz I Kue in the Sound Table’s main room for their yearly Black Friday / birthday bash, also featuring sets by DJ Kemit and Rasta Root. Next door, in Space 2, J-Live and Apple Jac will be on the wheels of steel, cranking out a whole bunch of songs that you already know and love, and some that’ll be brand-new to your ears. … And in the spirit of Black Friday bargains, one cover charge gets you into both parties. A portion of the door sales will be donated toward help pay the medical bills for Atlanta Underground Soulful Scene supporter Theresa McGhee, whose son has been diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia.
